I am new to Long Island and my wife is a teacher and she has a chance to possibly get a job with the Deer Park School District. I was wondering if there are any teachers out there who know anything about the school district. Things like how the administration is towards the teachers or just how the district is to work for in general. I have heard awful things about the William Floyd School District so I am just wondering.

Sigh, do not avoid the floyd. It's nowhere near as bad as people will make it seem. I know with the waves of negative attention by people who have never gone there it'll be hard to have an open mind. The kids will not kill you. Your car won't even be vandalized.

Anyway good kids live there and they are willing to learn. I can't say anything about deer park. Oh and if you do get a job congrats on winning the lottery! The other posters will get that joke.

Does anyone have any info on working for the Deer Park district. My wife's friend actually works for William Floyd and she says it's horrible. She says the adminstrators are constantly out to get you and they get observed like 7 times a year. There seems to be a bad buzz there

Yes what a horrible work environment. Supervisors observing their charges and making sure they are doing what they are supposed to. On second thought WF is a horrible district avoid it at all costs.

Observing their charges huh? Yeeaaaahhh. "making sure they are doing what they are supposed to do". Right. Ok. Isn't that why you hire someone because you think they can do what you hire them to do not to abuse them and watch over their sholder every minute? Why is it that every other district observes their teachers maybe twice a year and Floyd does 7 times?
