I'd rather eat grits and pocket 20K extra a year than dine on bagels and pizza and have an empty bank account.

That mightve been your reality... but its certainly not everyones.

Please dont kid yourself into thinking that a 9 on GS for NC = a 9 on LI.
Its all realtive to its surroundings...you either know that, or are youre about to.

See you soon my wayward ex pat friend...see you soon.

Crooks
I've met a few people from LI already (Wantagh, Melville) who used their height of the market profit to start a business down here... I almost can't believe not everyone was stupid enough to roll the money into a McMansion.

Of course a 9/10 in NC isn't equivalent to a 9/10 on LI... but like I said in my previous post, I'm not shopping in CSH or Syosset. I would put my 9/10s in this district down here against your 6/7s for RP schools - that was my whole point.

I'll be up for a long weekend in a few weeks... better hide!

It's certainly heavier in the Raleigh / Cary area over where I am...

It's just ridiculous.

I understand people wanting to defend LI, but to us, there is no defense. Yes, we have friends and family who think we are nuts, that the schools are not comparable, we will miss the city, etc. I just laugh because we know that we know better and they are sad to see us go. Most people that make the decision to leave LI do not do it blindly.
Yeah, it was a loooong time in the making for me. If I could help answer any questions, please feel free to DM me.

York county / Ft Mill SC is not what you think... It's a suburb of Charlotte NC with excellent schools. But it's OK, geography isn't my strong suit either.

I'm loving all these success stories of people who were born on LI and made the decision to leave. As taxes rise, more people move out. So NY's only solution is to tax the remaining population more to cut their losses. Everytime I see a moving truck in my apartment complex it makes me smile.

Don't worry - my sister moved to Apex 2 years ago, says she feels like she is on vacation every day (and she works!).
