Hello! I had this question on the NYC board but didn't get many responses.

I'm looking for private high school options that are within a 45 minute, public transportation commute from the Queens Village area. I prefer Queens but would also would consider a private or parochial school in Nassau County as long as it's possible to get there by public transportation.

I have the following suggestions already:

Molloy High School (Briarwood)
St. Francis Prep (Fresh Meadows)
Mary Louis Academy (Jamaica Estates)
Christ the King (Middle Village)
Kellenberg (Uniondale)
Chaminade (Mineola)

Can you think of anything else?

Also, does anyone have information on the Kew-Forest School in Forest Hills?

Many thanks.

Chaminade is an all male school and Mary Louis is all girls. What are you looking for? Kellenberg would be too far and you cannot take the train.

Either co-ed or single sex schools - doesn't matter.

If you live in queens village and assuming you have a daughter I would suggest Mary Louis, its a good school and its right there - I believe its around 179th st off of hillside. St Francis Prep is also a very good school

Archbishop Molley is both reputable and an easy commute via subway, it's right on the E/F Briarwood Vanwick station.

St. Mary's Manhasset. I have had a few students travel there from where I teach (Western Queens), and they said the commute wasn't bad.

Yes, Chaminade would be an easy commute from Queens Village. Just take the LIRR to Mineola and then it's a short walk. The school is understanding of train schedules. Chaminade starts around 8:05 and I used to get on the train at Mineola and I'd always see Chaminade boys getting off the train at that time.

Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead is an all-girls school; I know they have a number of Queens students but don't know how a public transport commute from Queens Village would work.

Holy Cross in Queens is an all-boys school; I don't know how good the school is but have worked with a couple of graduates who were very pleasant and had a great work ethic.
