I want to thank all veterans that read this thread, and the families of all those that have lost someone protecting me & my country.

Decoration Day, now called Memorial Day, is for remembering those who lost their lives while in military service to our country; Veterans Day is for thanking those still living who served in the military services of our country.

Thank you for the dictionary definition but I don't need it.
So you don't think it's proper or necessary to thank a living Vet on Memorial Day?
As I reflect on the lives lost I feel that thanking those who have lived through the heat of battle is another appropriate way to honor those no longer with us. I'm embarressed for you that you are actually questioning why Veterans should be thanked on Memorial Day.

Agreed!

Walter, I think there is a thread where a map needs posting after you remove your foot from your mouth.

In fact I am suprised by the lack of posts on this thread in general. I guess complaining about the same thing over and over again on different threads is more important than posting something positive about our countrys veterans.

Actually, there's nothing preventing you, nassau2suffolk, or you, Az2Ny, or anyone else from thanking me or any other Vet any day of any week of the year.

Thank you for your service Walter.
I personally don't reserve my appreciation for those who serve or served in our military to a couple of holidays on the calendar. I just don't understand why you would have to thank them on seperate days.
