Dix Hills is official? Try entering a Dix Hills address in any GPS, and it will not find it until you enter it as Huntington Station...Amazing however how the town of Huntington knows where to send my property tax bills...
Dix Hills is nowhere near Huntington Station, and should not be sharing a zip code with any other town or municipality...

On LI, You Ain't Where You Think You Are, rev. 2 may help you understand the great geographic confusions caused by non-conforming ZIP Code postal zones.

Default In case you are unfamiliar with the local geography

jptort, in case you are unfamiliar with the local geography, I've sent you an explanation of the very, very confusing geography of "Lawn Guyland" as a DM (Direct Message).

I do not think that any part of downtown Huntington (colloquially referred to as Huntington Village) is in the Cold Spring Harbor Central School District.

Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Cold Spring Harbor Central School District includes all or part of the Village of Lloyd Harbor, the Hamlet of Huntington, the Hamlet of Woodbury, the Village of Laurel Hollow and the Hamlet of Cold Spring Harbor.

The entire northwestern boarder of what is "colloquially referred to as Huntington Village" is bordered by the CSH Central School District. Many homes sit on sidewalks a few minutes walk from the heart of what us local geographic illiterates call the village.

Walter, do you live in Huntington (or have you ever)? I ask because you often post some very inaccurate things about the area as if you are an authority.

Being "bordered" is not the same as saying that any part of Huntington Village is within the Cold Spring Harbor Central School District (" ... Huntington Village (make sure you are in CSH schools NOT HUNTINGTON SCHOOLS)...").

I've never seen a map showing the official borders of the unofficial Huntington Village. Do you have such a map or do you know where I can get a copy?

If this is the area I'm thinking of- (right off Main St and Turkey Ln?), Midland St/Glen Way/Carnegie Ave etc..- those houses along with those zoned to Huntington school district are considered part of Cold Spring Harbor.

A map of the Hamlet of Cold Spring Harbor in the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County:

Cold Spring Harbor is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where the majority of the places with the community name in their mailing address are not in the hamlet: places that have a "Cold Spring Harbor, NY 11724" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Cold Spring Harbor are in the Village of Lloyd Harbor and the Hamlet of West Hills in the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County and in the Village of Laurel Hollow in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County (the world-famous Cold Spring Harbor Lab is actually in the Village of Laurel Hollow in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County and not in the Hamlet of Cold Spring Harbor in the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County); and, at the same time, there are places in the Hamlet of Cold Spring Harbor with a ""Huntington, NY 11743" mailing address.
