Hi all.

Wondering if anyone may know of a good half way point, by car to meet up between Sac and LA.

I will be driving north towards Sac to meet up with my sister and my niece, have a somewhat short, (few hours or so) visit with both before I say bye to my sister and take my niece (12yrs old) back with me to LA for a few days visit with me. My sister will just be bringing her to me and then driving back to Sac.

What would be a good stop point, also for a rest/visit and food... with my sister and a 12 year old?

It does not have to be exactly halfway. I could and should be the one to drive a greater distance.

Also, depending on the time, if we get to a location later on in the night we would then stay at a hotel before we head off again so I must be a good area.

Thanks for your time!!!

Harris Ranch by Coalinga is just about half way. You could eat some beef. Other than that, there's pretty much nothing between LA and Sacramento.

thanks.
i remember driving the stretch ... long desolte stretch on 5. then you get to the stink of the cows... and yeah, i guess that is about halfway... but that is what i would like to avoid so maybe 99 is best.
how much longer do you think?
and where to stop there?
my sister is not the best at directions... so it would have to be simple... even an over camping somewhere would be fine, just can't be next to the stockyards...

but i am open to all suggestions you guys give me!!!

thanks!

Fresno is 220 miles from LA and approx 175 from Sacto. There's all sorts of acceptable lodging right off the freeway, and Fresno is full of good places to eat. I can suggest a few, such as Castillo's for Mexican, Mike's Grill for BBQ, and Shanghai Chinese Cuisine.

i think that is what i will do is stop/ meet up in fresno.
looking at maps, there just is nothing at the middle-ish point on the 5.

i am not sure of my sister schedule... she is the one with all the kids!

so fresno best bet!
i could get there anytime from late on a Thursday night to any time Friday, but if we plan to meet at the earliest possible than I would not want to camp anywhere and would end up ending a hotel room, probably be there before them so yeah, i assume most hotels right off the 99 would be good/decent areas?

thank you for the dinning places...

if we head out of town on a Friday, any events and/or things to do or see before heading back south?

thanks again!!!

That would require a Fresno local's assistance. Paging FresnoFacts, paging FresnoFacts, your assistance is needed in aisle 4.

Disagree with you on the 5 being quicker than the 99, but that's another discussion for another thread
