Maybe the drive is worth it if she really wants to live there?

right now I'm living in Pasadena.....Pasadena is even further than West Hollywood to Simi....
WeHo is around 30 miles drive.....I'm new to LA and I don't know all the areas.....
My social life is very important to me....that's why I prefer to live in a trendy neighborhood and drive to work....
I'm not looking for a kind of safety that Simi is providing.....that's more for family with four kids
Also, I want to try different neighborhood to understand where to get settle down in LA and buy a house.....better to rent first and know how it works.....
I was going to buy a house in Thousand Oaks....but changed my mind....as a single woman, I will get board to dead living in a suburb like that....I've been living in big cities for my entire life.....can't live in suburb at all....thanks to the owner for not accepting my offer....(and now they changed their mind, but too late!)
I think going to WeHo is not that bad for me....I can take 170 and 118 which both are mostly pretty decent traffic....besides, I believe I will drive against of traffic in both direction....in the morning, driving towards simi and in the afternoon the other way around....both should be against of traffic....
any ideas how much rents are in those areas? and how I can find a place to rent?
there is no such thing as driving against traffic in the morning in LA. Going from WeHo to Simi Valley in the morning you will hit dreadful traffic.

The 101 would be less crowded going west out of downtown and the valley. Also the 405 north into the valley is less crowded. Once past the Ventura freeway the 405 opens up nicely all the way into Northridge. The 118 would be light traffic through the Santa Susana pass. But heavy traffic can be expected on all freeways in either direction during the daily sig alerts.

morning rush hour from weho just to the freeway is 25 min on avg..405 to the 101 another 25 min. Once you pass the 101 it opens sometimes and that's a big sometimes. Then from the 405 to the 118

seriously this can easy be an hour and a half drive in the morning

I wouldn't want to live there for a few reasons, mostly cause of traffic. but if you think you can handle all that, then go for it!

Whatever formula a person can find to shorten the commute would be a matter of a few minutes. No way around it: from West Hollywood to Simi Valley is going to take time and on some days the time might not be worth it.

The worst thing will be the price.

Getting to the 405 will take some time, but it would not be all that bad.

I think she was referring to crime like burglaries or being robbed on the street.

The most trouble she will probably get into is a drive by makeover
