I'm one of the many who have been struck by the acting bug, and want to move to Los Angeles. I am looking for a safe area where I wont get mugged, shot, stabbed or killed or have my vehicle messed with. I am also looking for an apartment, I don't care what size how big or small for under 1000 a month. I do not mind commuting up to an hour each direction to the main city.

What about slapped or kicked?

Do you know where you will be working?

or slapped or kicked! =)

I will not be working at first, my goal is to have at least 12K saved up by the time I move out there. That should give me plenty of time to get a job on focus on auditions and stuff.

You're not going to find anything decent for less than $1000. Unless you want to rent a room, which is something I would suggest. No matter how talented you are, you will still need to take scene study and audition classes. So having a roommate will enable you to take those classes.

Check out Craiglist, Recycler and I would concentrate on Santa Monica, West L.A., West Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale and west SFV (Studio City, Encino, Tarzana, Woodland Hills, Reseda, West Hills, Northridge, Chatsworth). Be careful of Chatsworth though - that is porn capital U.S.A. and you don't want to make those kind of movies. LOL!

I would definitely make sure that you have a stable job before you move. It would be even more fun if you had a friend that wants to move there as well. me and my two girlfriends did that and we made a road trip all the way there. We moved from the East Coast to the west and it was soo much fun!!!

I'm trying to convince my current room mate to out with me. but if not that wont be an issue, by the time i move out there i should have enough money to last me 5-6 months. uncluding rent/utilities/food/and cell phone, I'm a veteran so i get free health care, as long as I'm in school the Veterans Affairs will pay my rent as well up to 2K a month.

Do you have any idea how many people come to LA to become an actor? I would stay where you are. I don't mean to be a debbie downer, but it's just very unrealistic that you will become a famous actor. I've lived in LA my entire life and anyone from here laughs at all the people who want to make it big. Almost all of the waiters in LA are aspiring actors. GL with that.
