I disagree. I think it's a pretty safe area.

I used to live very close (near Vermont/Franklin) but it was over 10 years ago.

The LAPD crime maps provide a snapshot into the crime of an area.

LAPD Crime Maps

You are right on the southern edge of Los Feliz which a GREAT area with interesting bars, restaurants, and shops.

The Barnsdale Arts Park is great with the Frank Lloyd Wright desinged Hollyhock House. The house is a landmark and they give very interesting public tours. The park also has a lot of interesting events/art fairs.

Los Feliz village is a short walk from your address. Los Feliz Village (Vermont Ave from Hollywood Blvd to Franklin) has a lot eclectic shops, restaurants, and bars. The DRESDEN is a classic LA bar.

And of course just up the hill, you've got the Griffith Observatory in Griffith Park. From science exhibits to great hiking trails you would enjoy living so close to it.

Forgive me here, but that crime map doesn't nearly tell the whole story.

Sunset from Normandie to Western is a VERY active late night street walking prostitution zone, and the area south of Santa Monica and also the area to the west of Normandie is full of illegal aliens.

So whatever, I stand by my assertion that its not the suburbs.

I didn't mean to sugar coat the area. It is NOT the suburbs.

That said, the OP's proposed location is pretty far east...nearly at Vermont. The street prostitution you noted is further west near Western/Normandie.

Again, I think this is generally a safe area...granted to be "North" of Hollywood Blvd would be better. But the OP's address is right next to the park within walking distance to Los Feliz Village.

Finally, I don't see what your point is about illegal aliens......

You selected the wrong zip code. The OP's suggested location is in 90027, not 90029.

If you look at homicides in Los Feliz since 2007, there have only been 3.
