I'm relatively new in Los Angeles (in the Westood area) and I'm wondering if anyone knows of any out of the way, bohemian coffe klatches/cafes or really anything of that nature; I'm really interested in the whole neo-hippie, artsy subculture.

Certainly Topanga Canyon village would offer what you seek.

Thanks everybody...Topanga Canyon sounds awesome but it doesn't seem like you can get there through public transit.

You are probably right. The canyon is steep and rugged. The road from Pacific Coast Highway is winding and narrow. Coming over from Woodland Hills the road is also very winding. Can't recall even seeing a city bus up there.

Okay, I kind of gave up Topanga but then I found a bus that goes up there:

Are there any specific places in Topanga that anyone can tell me about?
