LOL @ gangs roaming through Brentwood at night! That's the funniest mental image I've seen in a while. Gangs of Mercedes and BMW's meeting at Montana & San Vicente for a showdown! Whoever told you this is completely and utterly ignorant in respects to Brentwood.

Tell the man who told you Brentwood is crawling with gangs after dark that he's an idiot.

My only criticism of Brentwood is that it's homogenous and boring but I think that's what you're looking for. Stay at the Luxe if you can.

I've also been checking out Marina Del Rey. The condos with floor to ceiling windows and those views are untouchable!! Its Beautiful! I am considering this area as well. In your opinion, is it a less convenient area to live in since is it further from downtown? How is the traffic in and around this area? Thanks !!!!

Marina Del Rey is beautiful. Surprisingly, there is alot to do around there. Fisherman's Village, a Costco, and several small shopping centers. It is very close to Venice Beach and LAX (LA Int'l Airport). I live in Playa del Rey, the next city south of MDR and I love it here. All areas of Marina Del Rey are safe, even the cheaper areas. Don't ask me why, but MDR is probably the only place in LA like that. Unless you are rich, though, you won't afford those new, tall condos in MDR b/c most are around 1 million for a 1 bed.

The traffic can get pretty bad, but everywhere in the South Bay does b/c when the roads were built in LA, no one expected the population boom that has occured on the west side of LA. It's nothing worse than anywhere else in LA though. The trip will take a little longer, but not much. Just hop on the 405, sit there for an hour, get on the 10, sit there for 45 minutes and you'll be there. Brentwood wold take about 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes

If you're looking in the MDR area, other cities to consider are Playa Vista (a planned condominium community), Playa del Rey, and El Segundo. If you plan on having kids and raisning them in LA, El Segundo is the best place b/c they have the best schools in LA since they aren't part of the s****y LA Unified district. The MDR, PDR, ES area is great if you want to hit up the beach often b/c most areas are in walking or biking distance to a beach .

If you want anymore info on the area, PM since I live here.

Well you know what I mean with the South Bay and West LA area. I'm in PDR so I'm West LA too, but what do you call the area from SM to Torrance. B/c theres south bay and West LA.

Why are you basing your estimates on the distance from downtown? There are many jobs in other parts of LA.

For me, conceptually, I view LAX as the boundary between West LA and the South Bay. For example... El Segundo = South Bay, PDR = West LA... etc...

Yeah, I know. I'm not really basing it on that, I just want to address different obstacles. Of course, I'm going to get a job as close to home as sensible, but downtown is probably a realiable place to find ample jobs.

I found a condo I LOVE, BUT I called about the pet policy and they only allow 1 dog, and it has to be under 25lbs... I still have alot to consider, and I really want to check out the area myself first (of course).
