it depends on what you are looking for. brentwood near wilshire is very densely packed with apartments and condos. as you get north towards sunset and the getty museum, brentwood is filled with multimillion dollar mansions.

thanks! i'm just looking for simple homes (200-400K, cheaper than that would be nice), a safe place and a good school for my kid. we have jobs in the healthcare field so hospitals, clinics or nursing facilities within bearable driving distance would be good. no need to be very near "cultural" or high end places, or even the bay area. just a safe affordable neighborhood is what i'm looking for.

i think we're both thinking about different brentwoods. there is a brentwood in LA (of OJ Simpson fame) and also a brentwood in northern calfornia, which is a suburb of SF.

Yeah, we're talking about the Brentwood in Los Angeles, a neighborhood in the LA Basin next to Santa Monica and Westwood (the UCLA Westwood, not NorCal).

If you are referring to the SoCal one...don't. 200k-400k would get you a closet in the worst home in Brentwood, Los Angeles. LOL. I have no clue about the NorCal one though. I just know there is one.

Sorry! Good luck though!

oh, ok. i didn't know there's more than one brentwood . i just searched realtor.com for brentwood, CA and it displayed houses with 94513 zip codes, pls take a look. can you tell me if this zip code is a safe and affordable area?

Brentwood, CA, Real Estate Listings and Brentwood, CA, Single Family Home for Sale - REALTOR.com®

sorry for any confusion. i just moved to the US more than a year ago so i wasn't really aware of OJ Simpson's place although i knew about the events.

It's all good. Most people don't know that there are two Brentwoods, even people living in CA. Heck, people living in Brentwood, Los Angeles probably don't even know know about Brentwood, CA.

And that's the zip code for Brentwood, CA. Most people in LA won't know anything about that area. I don't...

Go ask in the SF Bay Area sub-forum. They'll help you.

So the shock of costs has already been considered. Everything i’ve read about this area says that it’s a very nice area to live in, with lots of shopping, and many celebrities live in the area as well. They are not why i am considering it. It is because if they feel safe there, it must be a beautiful, nice, safe area. What are everyone’s thoughts on brentwood?? Also, what is the job market like out there? I am currently living in orlando, florida. Jobs are readily available and easy to find. Is l.a. Similar? I am really excited about getting to know the l.a. Area and am planning a trip out there for the near future. Public schools aren’t really an issue of mine right now, because it is just me and my husband. What colleges or universities are close? I want to hear everything, the good and the bad. I am trying to do as much research ahead of time as i can. Every bit of information helps!!! Thanks everyone!!!!
oj simpson!
