Best to start now and build a little until you have a months rent in your account at all times and this problem goes away.
Yes we have a savings account. I just pay my rent after I get paid, so I don't dip into the savings account. I'm not sure what the problem with paying rent on the 1st is.

I haven't been late on rent for almost 2 years at my place. The last month I was late but eventually paid the rent in full.

this month due to tough economic times I'm going to be late again. The landlord called me on the first day of the month for the rent. They call every day what can I do to stop this harassment? I'm trying the best I can to get the rent paid

Your landlord is depending on your rent to pay his own bills. Unfortunately everyone gets hurt when you fail to live up to your financial agreements, which is why they call ("harass") you to make good on them. And when you don't you get a bad reputation. Rent is more important than any other bill you have, even food or diapers or whatever, because it effects other people not just you. Cover your rent first.

Instead of being late, maybe give them a heads up well before your rent is due, offer to make an advance before the 1st. Basically what I am saying is you need to COMMUNICATE. If you had a history of paying your rent on time, then you should have taken the initiative to let your manager/landlord know that you were going to be late, and give them a time in which you expected to be able to pay. Communication is always better than none, hopefully you won't come home to find an eviction notice on your door.

I'm pretty sure that if you are late, the landlord has to pay you. I'll post this info to the internet & therefore it will be true.

Hi Nita! Nice to see ya!

I don't understand the concept that renters cannot understand that the rent is due on the 1st and there is a late fee every day thereafter.

I guess it's the new math they teach in schools..........
