Oi Oi matey's
I'll be staying in the Hollywood Hills area for a while. I'm new out here and I've gotten all my immigration sorted and i'm learning how to drive/written exam test (annoying revision) but in the mean time i'm going to have to take public transport. Everyone says the transport is a pile of poo but just how crap is it? Because i'm applying for work and I want to know what other areas apart from Hollywood will be easy for me to get to. I like to walk a lot too and the longest i've walked was 2hrs in London from South to North. Good times ![]() Thanks in advance |

It depends where you are staying in the Hollywood Hills. Hollywood is crawling with public transportation. You may have to walk down the hill a little. The Metro Red Line is a pretty easy walk from a lot of the Hollywood Hills. Buses run up and down Hollywood Blvd and all the other major and not so major arteries. You have 4 different types of lines in Hollywood plus the train. Check mta.net to see what I mean. Day passes are $3 and you can ride wherever you like all day as many times as you like. MTA gets a bad rap. It's not the best in the country but it's far from being the worst. You can get wherever you need without much walking unless you're going to Beverly Hills or Brentwood (Bel Air too).
If you have any specific questions, I'm happy to help. |

I'm actually based in San Diego but I have family in Hollywood Hills and San Fernando Valley. LA has lots of British people. People seem to be friendly and i'm not bothered if it's mistaken for fakeness because it doesn't hurt me. I can now say that I love LA. All the opportunities it has. So much to do. I like the indie film festivals, Venus beach and some of the bars in Hollywood. There's stills so much for me to see. Every city has it's good and bad. I'm sure you've heard a lot about the traffic. I don't think the gang problem is all that bad. Americans get scared too easily and the media doesn't help. Be prepared for a lot of stupid questions. Some people cannot tell the difference between France and England.... it's unreal. I'm from South London. You? If you have msn then private message me where we can talk more. I have a lot more to say. It's nice to talk to Londoners who are moving out here. |

Actually, MTA day passes are now $5; they were just recently increased.

There are buses running in the Hollywood Hills on Highland Ave, Cahuenga Ave, Beachwood Ave, Vermont Ave/Vermont Canyon Rd.

Don't know if your family has told you this, but there are alot of British peeps in Santa Monica along with a few British pubs. JFYI I use to live in the Hollywood Hills around Lookout Mtn. If you would be any where near there, a walk would or could be treacherous with the traffic and no sidewalks, so be careful!
