Hi,

My husband recently accepted a job in the Century City area of Los Angeles and we are now in the process of looking for apartments and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about areas to consider (or eliminate) when it comes to our search?

We are currently living in Arkansas (via Wisconsin) so we're doing most of our seaching online though my husband will be flying out there this weekend to continue the search in person so any ideas are greatly appreciated!

I would prefer to be within a few mile radius of the Century City area, somewhere that is safe to walk or bike around, and in a quiet building. As such, areas where people might be blaring any kind of music that you can hear through the walls are not cool in my book.

Any suggestions? We're trying to keep our search in the under $1500 range because we still have a mortgage to contend with until we are able to sell our condo back in WI.

I've been looking at the following areas as possibilities: Palms, Culver City, Sawtelle, Beverly Hills, etc. Any recommendations about areas to seek out or avoid welcome!!

Thanks!

those areas would all be fine. you could also add mar vista and west la to your list. don't expect anything more than a 1br apartment in a building that is at least sligthly dated in your price range.

Thanks - are there better areas of Mar Vista or West LA that you'd suggest? I've read that it can be pretty much hit or miss depending on which block you are on in any area.

Yeah, we are okay with a 1-bedroom and understand that it's going to be dated or rather "charming" as it seems to be put in most ads. ; )

Thanks again!!

generally speaking, mar vista is better north of venice blvd and west LA is better north of santa monica blvd. definitely stay away from the projects (mar vista gardens) down near ballona creek.
