Default Fidm

I'm from Singapore and I'd love to attend to FIDM and major in fashion design. I understand a lot of hard work needs to be put in and I am impressed that they offer internships which will help in my resume.

So I need feedback from FIDM students or graduates and how good this school is like how they have been marketed themselves to be. And how much international students will have to pay, including lodging and living expenses. Plus any tips that will help in getting in or others. Thank you so much!

Default About FIDM

I don't know how much it costs to attend FIDM these days. But my daughter and I looked into it many years ago, and it was really expensive at that time. I can't remember, but it was maybe $30,000 or something like that. I could be wrong. If you want to be a designer and plan to start your own line after graduation, then FIDM would look very good on your resume. However, if you want to be able to get a job in the fashion industry, you'll need some skills. And it's best to get that kind of training at a trade school. Los Angeles Trade Technical College has one of the best Fashion Design programs and they aren't nearly as expensive as FIDM. In fact, some of the former FIDM students often go to L.A. Trade Tech so that they can learn basic skills.

My daughter graduated from that school (LA Trade Tech) and she's now the head of her own company. It's called Jahqoi. You can see some of her work on her website (jahqoi.com). She and I work together.

I wish you much success in your efforts. Don't give up - no matter what!
