I just graduated and got a job offer in LA near Manhattan Beach. I live on the east coast in the south. My question is what are some good neighborhoods and how much do I have to make to live comfortably in LA? My budget for renting would be around 1500. Thanks!

Rule of thumb is 1/3 net pay for rent. So 12 *4500 = $54K salary to support a $1500 rent budget.

Look at www.housingmaps.com and www.mapskrieg.com

Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, El Segundo, Torrence, maybe Westchester, maybe Culver City, maybe as far north as Santa Monica - but that would probably be unnecessarily far. If you go farther north or south the drive can be bad. If you go east (the other side of the 405) the neighborhoods can get sketchy. Work those Craigslist ads for an idea of what costs what, where.
