Until the Dodgers immediately shut down their very extensive Camelback Ranch facility in Glendale AZ, this boycott stuff is just a joke.

By the way, the Dodgers Arizona League team played the other night in Glendale Arizona, beating the Rangers kids 2-1.

Guess the boycott isn't too extensive.

Arizona is still pissed that the Lakers thumped them again. The Suns are a good team but not in the Laker's league. BTW, the Suns also condemned their own state over the immigration law and wore "Los Suns" jerseys to show their solidarity with immigrants.
I certainly do stand corrected there. As I said before, I'm in the process of moving out of CA anyway, so not much I can do about it now.

It sounds like you defend the LA Boycott?

Yes, I support the boycotts of Arizona even though twice LA compromised and retained contracts with Arizona firms. But the travel ban for city employees is still in effect and I'm sure the impact of these cities boycotting Arizona has had an effect. Arizona has a history of making poor decisions and suffering the consequences even if it is nothing more than being the butt of comedians jokes:

It's mostly municipals that are the ones at hand doing the boycott. Private entities ... who cares?

What did get caught up in all this was the Arizona Beverage Company. Sales dropped because folks stopped buying them, even though Arizona is just the name and they're based in New York.

Yes, I give money, quite a bit of money, to SM. Santa Monica did not boycott AZ. Its the lesser of two (or, several) evils. I am also in the process of evaluating the best way to move out of CA, because I see very little future for this state. Priorities are so backwards its scary.

Well, I was just kidding around about you being an immigrant. Typos are par for the course here on C-D.

That said, despite Santa Monica's boycott of AZ (which for you i understand is not a good thing), I don't see what you find that is so evil about "liberal" Santa Monica. The quality of life there is about as good as it gets.

I actually really like SM. (its the entire state of CA that i have issue with).

My quality of life here is fantastic. SMPD is fantastic, well trained and equipped. Same with Fire.

I don't really get involved with local SM politics, or I would have knows about "our" boycott of AZ as well.

Local "liberal" laws don't really get in my way all that much. The only SM law that really bothers me is 3.72.050(a), which requires police to look the other way about marijuana use.

If Arizona did not already have an "F" for racial insensitivity [not recognizing Martin Luther King, suspending ethnic studies, Sheriff Arpaio, etc.] most people probably would not have reacted as strongly as they have over this immigration law. The trouble with Arizona is that it is too Republican in a part of the nation that is heavily Hispanic. The consequence of Arizona's latest blunder will be quite clear in the 2012 election. Latinos make up approximately 30% of Arizona's population and you can be sure a high percentage will be voting in the next election. In-fact, part of the response to the immigration law has been the influx of California activists into Arizona, registering voters and promoting the Democratic party. Arizona need only look at what happened in California in 1992 and how the state shifted strongly toward the Democrats due to a foolish proposition that the then Republican governor used to get re-elected.

So ..... being Republican is being anti-hispanic? Hows that for stereotypes.
