Looking for place to stay from Mid September to Mid December.

I don't know much about the area so I'm not sure where in the city I should be looking which is one problem. But I also am having trouble finding short term leases.

It appears there may be some hotels with monthly rates, which may be ideal as I'm traveling from the east coast and won't have any furniture with me. Does anyone know of any hotels that are close to Cal State that do monthly rates?
Cal State LA is a commuter school. Try University Hills or Craigslist or as others have mentioned, ride the Metrolink. If you have a car then look into the surrounding cities, north of campus.

Too bad you can't stay in the dorms. My daughter attends there (but not living there) and says the dorms have many openings. It's more of a "commuter" campus. I'd say try the areas around San Gabriel and Alhambra, virtually "next door" to CSULA (especially the more northern areas are better). MUCH better than L.A., itself. If you don't have a car, public transportation would get you there fairly quickly. If you don't mind a ride on the metrolink train (which will drop you off right at CSULA), even a bit more east towards Covina could work. Glendora's just north of there and a nice area, too. I'd personally stay away from nearby L.A. areas of Montecito Heights, El Sereno, etc., etc. I live nearby in L.A. and wouldn't suggest the general area. Good luck!
