I've traveled down to Orange County, South Bay, and Malibu. Most of the time I'll stick somewhere close, like Santa Monica or Venice Beach .

How have you been welcomed by the locals? (Surfers can be very territorial.)

Some are aholes. Some have been really cool. It all depends on who is out there.

I lived in LA for about 35 years but left for another state not due to weather but craziness and state politics. I come back once a year for a couple, three weeks and enjoy the change of scenery but I sure don't miss the traffic or politics. Talk to us in another 10-15 years about how wonderful it is once the weather and activities wear off.

If I were you, I'd polish those Toyotas nonetheless... at least a couple coats... if not to protect then just to make it absurdly shiny!

Priceless! Ha ha!

That is great...seriously funny!

The sad thing is that in my job in Santa Monica, I am outside a lot, and have seen some really weird things go down in front of me...I'm telling you...

I thought when I left Key West I'd never have the guts to say the words ever again..."I've seen it all"

Nope...not by a long shot...

I remember one night hearing a siren...
And like out of a movie...

Seeing 30 police cars on the pier, helicopters, and boats patrolling around the pier as somebody was in the water and trying to escape arrest.

Watching someone make a left turn into an alley that was clearly marked one way and run into a trash can.

Seeing someone without headlights on, driving a dark grey or black car daily for the past two years...in the dark of night.

Having a woman shout..."He just raped me" so her boyfriend would leave her alone after a bar argument, and having traffic stop for cars to arrive.

Approaching people on a segway, and having them demand to know whether or not I am from outer space...yes, really.

And the number one greatest hit...having someone ask me, while staring at the parking meter sign, if they can park there and not get a fine...without paying.

I'm pretty sure posting on C-D from outer space is a violation of C-D's TOS. You should check it out.

I just ran a check on your IP address and it has nine octets!

I'm pretty sure Segway is a proper noun, and also probably very dangerous on a freeway.
