Downtown Long Beach does have its problems, so be prepared. On the other hand, Pine Ave. is nice and Long Beach does have the Blue Line, although the Blue Line is not as well policed as it used to be and it does have the stinkiest trains and too many intimidating experiences at night. The Gold Line is the gold standard as even the Eastside extension is extremely nice and safe.

Also, Long Beach always seems to be hotter than the rest of the area in summer.
