Question Bad Areas of South Pasadena?

I am thinking about moving to South Pasadena, and I was wondering if there were any unsafe or bad areas of the city. I know that it has pretty low level of crime, but most other cities in LA county seem to have good and bad areas.

So far I found a place at Oak Hill Ave at Short Way Street.

Thanks for your help!

You must be joking. There are no bad areas there. Seriously, S. Pas is one of the cleanest, safest areas in Southern California. It's very quiet.

If anything, South Pas is a little too boring, but I'll take that over edgier areas any day.

Default South Pasadena

I lived in South Pasadena for 2 years. There is not an once of danger in South Pasadena.... it is a very quiet, beautiful, and cultured city. It borders Pasadena, where's there old town which has tons and tons of stores; awesome restaurants. In fact the movie Knocked Up was filmed at the Paseo in Pasadena, which is the very popular shopping center and if you drive down El molino ave, there's that huge house where Mr. & Mrs. Smith was filmed. Basically, you can't go wrong living in South Pasadena.

The light rail goes through South Pas...so you may want to check on a map how close you'd be to railroad tracks....but other than that....its a very nice city.

Ditto that. My Mother was born and raised there. I went to South Pas High as well and would walk to school. Very nice little city. There are no bad parts.

South Pas is great! Very clean, safe city with great schools and you can't go wrong living anywhere in the small city. Lived there for three years and attended South Pasadena Junior High. I remember when we used to walk to Thrifty's on Fair Oaks after school to grab their tasty Ice-Cream for .35 cents for a single scoop back in 91-92, those were the good old days! Make sure to check out Hi-Life Burger on Fair Oaks it's sooooo good!

I went to SoPas Jr. High too! Course that would have been in 86-87? We used to walk to Hi-Life and get the chili cheese fries all the time. Too bad they had to go and ruin the place by tearing down the old walk-up to the window and order type deal and built a new eat-in restaurant. It never had the same appeal after that. Ahhh Thrifties ice cream...course I remember when it was a single scoop for $.25

I'm headed to LA this weekend for a wedding and I think I'm going to pay Hi-Life Burger a visit! The eat-in version of Hi-Life is all I ever knew since I moved to South Pas from Alameda in 1991. There used to be a old time candy/ice cream store that was excellent that was across the street from Thrifty's on Fair Oaks...anyone knows the name of that spot and if it is still open?
