I want to be as close to the Staples Center as possible, but also in a nice area. If it's not possible to get something nice near the SC, then not TOO far away.

I'm willing to put forth around 8k for rent.

Do you all have any suggestions?

there are a few luxury high rises in downtown you could look at. many (if not all) are condos, but i'm sure with some research you could find an agent who could broker a deal for you.

Why would a person making that sort of money and in that type of occupation need to pose this question on a message board? Surely you can contact a broker on your own, even have contacts who can steer you in the right direction.

What is with some of you people on city-data?

I've dealt with brokers before, and none of the brokers I've dealt with listened to ME. Either they were too afraid to tell me they couldn't find something that met my criteria, or they were hell-bent on placing me where they wanted me to be.

This is the second time someone on city-data has felt the need to tell me someone spending as much as I'm willing to spend should know people, or should just deal with brokers. I don't hobnob, and you'd probably be surprised that many people can become financially independent without doing so.

If you can help me, please do. If not, it's a waste of time.

My honest opinion? I'm always sceptical about anybody who describes themselves as a multi-millionaire on a message board and then go on to what appears to be a post to attract gulible women. So far since March you have looked for upscale neighbourhoods in NYC, the NY burbs and now down town LA.

Just my opinion.

Let's just answer the question, please.

To the OP: there are some great buildings downtown. I agree with BRinSM that you should contact an agent who specializes in the area; they can help you find a nice rental option. Otherwise I doubt you're going to get much detailed help on here, unless you can be a bit more specific about what exactly you want. You can certainly find something very nice in your price range downtown.
