Default Sherman Oaks to Santa Monica Commute Times

I tried searching length of time for this particular commute but have come up empty. We are considering living in Sherman Oaks (in Colorado right now) and commuting to Santa Monica and West LA respectively for work. Thanks in advance!

thats a very common commute. Off the top of my head, I would quote 20-50 minutes, depending on time of day, traffic, and where in SM you're commuting to (close to 10 freeway or not). Its basically a straight shot down the 405.

if you will have similar work hours, i would consider carpooling since those locales are very close to one another.

It isn't too bad a commute

Carpooling works well as there is a carpool lane southbound and one under construction northbound.

Thank you for the responses! I have had others mention that I should avoid 405 and take alternative routes...agree with this? Also, does the carpool lane actually move quite a bit quicker that the regular lanes?

The carpool lane is certainly something to consider, but a great alternative route is Sepulveda(as you know I'm a fan .

As others have mentioned, it's a doable commute and S. Oaks is a great neighborhood, so my opinion: go for it. As far as the commute, you can try out doing the carpool and Sepulveda route and see which one seems to work best during rush hour times.

Good luck!
