Default Mason Jars, where to buy in LA

A friend of mine is getting ready to do some canning and needs mason jars. We have found some at local OSH stores but they never have enough on hand. ACE hardware has some too but still not enough. Is there anyplace around LA that sells cases of mason jars? Preferably 1pt size.

I've seen them at Costco. The big flats of 12 jars.

Or maybe order them online?

I have actually seen them at Wal-Mart. I was surprised to see cases of them!

Ralph's has Ball Jars by the cash register usually in shrinkwrapped cardboard packages of 12 or so

Thanks guys, my friend ended up getting 5 cases at Smart and Final.

The Ralphs stores we called a week or so ago said they didn't carry them. Probably a case of lazy/uneducated employees.

depending on whether your friend wants wide mouthed or narrow ones, you can ususally get them at a decent price at Big Lots, also Wal-Mart..Believe it or not, which may not work this year (might be too late) garage sales are a great place.

I can't remember where I got mine in Ca but in Texas and NM as well as here, I got them at the places I listed above. I usually can a couple hundred jars. (not quite as many this year)

You also might want to check on line, but if she/he is getting ready to start right now there may not be time to have them sent.
