I would check you home for mold. Better chance of that affecting you than smog. Not to say that smog isn't the problem. Many other cities are more polluted than Los Angeles and it gets the bad rap.

One of the things that I would want to know is did you move in June to a new place? Did you start working at a new job? What is differant from June 2010 than in October 2009? The amount of smog isn't any differant now than then. My thoughts would lead more to what has changed in your life if you have a persistant problem. Also were you in any high wind areas that may have put you in danger of valley fever?

I am from CA and I have never had allergies. I lived in WA for 3 years and had 2 kids while there. We just moved home, and my son (who never had allergies before) has started having terrible allergies (sinus problems, covered in eczema). His doctor says it is likely an allergic reaction to environmental factors in CA, including the smog/air quality.

If L.A. residents can't handle the smog, how will a football team?

i cannot contend that you did/did not get ashtma from living here, but did you really just say the air smells? really? air here is among the dirtiest in the country (as proven by annual studies), but the air is not that bad unless you have extrememly sensitive lungs. the brown clouds of the 80s are pretty much non-existant these days and mainly only exist in the far east inland empire if/when they appear. most of LA city and even LA county has pretty clear air even on days when smog levels are up. remember that CO2 is invisible and the brown cloud is mostly particulate matter like dust. the nastiest air i can think of is near the ports where you've got boats and trucks spewing noxious diesel fumes. however, that is getting better as well since the city has imposed much stricter standards in the last couple of years.
