Whenever one of these idiots pulls up near my car I feel physically sick and my nerves get really jarred.

I far prefer the sound of a sweeeeeet V8 engine than the Cha Boom of annoying noise trying to pass as music

The reverb from the bass makes me physically ill and doesn't help the inner ear problem I have.

By the way, medical studies have found that the loud bass of boom boxes can actually collapse your lungs.

Can you produce even a single authenticated instance of that happening? I don't mean as the result of a kiloton of TNT being detonated or some laboratory experiment, but in the same context as this discussion: some punk going down the street listening to his 16's and suddenly his respitory system failing.

As for why the police don't cite these guys? My guess is one of two reasons: One these ARE off duty police officers. Or alternately, because stopping a car like that and there is a very real chance of a gun being pointed right back at you. It's SOOOO much easier to "fight crime" by stopping, hassling, and ticketing Mr and Mrs Pootywinkle who were going three over the speed limit in their stock Camry. At least the odds in that situation are decidedly more in the police officers favor. That demographic is least likely to resist, be armed, or scream to the press and the ACLU about them "damn racist cops".

Hey now! I'm not quite old enough to have experienced Beehive hair, LOL! I was a teenager in the late 1970's, the era of Farah Fawcett hair, disco, Pop Rocks and 8-Track tapes, LOL!

The 8 track tape was popular from the mid 60s to late 70s. Their was plenty of am/fm 8 track stereos in cars back then but the sound was poor with factory speakers. Some factory car stereo systems only had am & 8 track stereo.

If you open up a 8 track tape you will know why they are called 8 track tapes. I think they should of been called 4 track tapes.

I have over 100 8 tracks & havent played them in yrs. My dad had a am/fm/turnable/cassette/8 track stereo system from 1980 that still worked (except the cassette deck) & he said i could have it cause he hasnt used it since the mid 90s. It would of been great to play my old 8 track tapes again but i kept getting put off (i first asked for it a few or so yrs back). My step mother said i couldnt have it so she gave it to charity last year. She told me she would rather give stuff to charity then family for the tax right off. We dont talk anymore.

Does anyone have one of these nice portable 8 track tape decks ? Welcome to 8-track Heaven!
