What are your opinions as to the best Chinese food in L.A? Doesn't matter where, can be Valley, Downtown, West side, etc.

citysearch does a 'best of' list every year, have you checked that?

Believe it or not but cities in the San Gabriel valley like Monterey Park, Alhambra & Temple City have some of the best Chinese restaurants in metro Los Angeles.

Hands down, if you want good down to earth chinese food, the San Gabriel Valley is the place to be. The food at 101 Noodle Express is wonderful:

Our first pick would be some of the better places in Chinatown, followed by SAn Gabriel Valley. Hopefully you will get some ideas from here, we did when we visited So Ca last spring. We did choose a place in Pasadena that I would have to say was a disappointment.

Depends what you are looking for in chinese food.

If you are looking for authentic food, you will probably want some place in Monterey Park, Rowland Heights, or Chinatown.

If you want americanized chinese food, Yang Chow(Chinatown, Woodland Hills, Pasadena) and PF Changs(everywhere) are pretty good.

I'd never recommend PF Changs to anyone in a city with so much superb Chinese food.

The SGV cities, and Chinatown and nearby areas, are the most authentic. However, the best Chinese food in the Valley is Chinese Delight in a humble minimall on Lankershim near Oxnard.

Mao's Kitchen in Venice is highly recommended.

I agree, we go there living in NWA cause there really are not many honest Chinese eateries around here, but PF Changs, along with being very pricey just isn't like "real" Chinese food.
