Thumbs down The Lindsay Lohan Circus

Here we go again. A media frenzy in West Hollywood\ Beverly Hills as the bad girl, Lindsay Lohan arrives in court this morning to face the judge for failing her latest drug test; she tested positive for cocaine.

But the media are everywhere with helicopters following Lindsay's entourage from her home in West Hollywood to the courthouse in Beverly Hills. They said on the news that with so many helicopters over Lindsay's apartment it must be irritating all her neighbors especially those still sleeping. Also the paparazzi following the Lohan car are causing traffic problems.

Does anyone really care what this young celebrity sniffs, smoke, ingests?

I definitely do NOT care. I DO care that our local "news" outlets cover this story as if the future of the republic depends on it.....the sorry state of what used to be called journalism.

It's all about supply and demand. The news outlets are giving the people the news they want. The best you can hope for is that they occasionally can slip in some substantive material.

Just take a glance at the C-D "Celebrities" forum. There you will find the people who drive this sort of frenzy.

This is a fantastic reason to steer clear of Local TV News.

Very true LASam...but I guess I am longing for a day when the news did not have to be a profit center. There was a public purpose to serve which outweighed the desire to satisfy shareholders.

Agreed. At least the LA Times was successful in outing the scandal in the city of Bell!

Yeah, but the 40s, 50s and 60s are long over and sensationalism, advertising dollars, political correctness and voyeurism are the driving forces now.
