So, as a celebrity, you've sold your soul. You are fair game as soon as you step your front or back door, or too close to a window, grocery shopping, going to the gas station, dropping off and picking up your kids from school, going to the bank, the cleaners, pulling your shorts out of your butt crack, letting a stomach roll show, leaning over at the wrong time, whatever... Too bad, right, you chose this life? Is that your point?

Sorry Nita, I'm not buying it. No one is saying the paps don't have the right to be on public property, or to "make a living". But there are expections of civility, regardless- or at least there should be. Being "on public property" does not give you cart blanche.

Look, I don't even mind the hordes of paps hanging around the Strip every night. If the stars go out to play where they can EXPECT photographers to be watching for them, that's one thing. But staking them out at all hours, invading their space and shoving and jostling on the street outside their homes- not acceptable. It borders on stalking, regardless of the motive. It's creepy.

You seem to have a natural sympathy for these paps, Nita. Do you have the capacity to put yourself in the place of their victims, even for a moment?

(PS- There's no shame to being on "welfare". Sometimes, it's all that stands between you and watching your kids starve. Beats having a job that forces you to compromise your values, and cheapens life in a civil society)

Aren't there loitering laws in public places?

I talk my dog for walks at a park (about 2 minutes from my house), and parks always have a sign out front of 10 or 12 things...dogs must be on a leash, restrictions about barbecuing. No parking after midnight, etc.

Why are these morons allowed to create or PROVOKE an altercation with a celebrity? Trying to get an unflattering upskirt shot or something.

The whole paparazzi subculture is so cheap and tacky. All these silly words. "Paps". "Gangbangs" (a crush of photographers). Sounds like something out of a porno.

These "freelancers" have negative IQ points. Someone cut back on their "Airport work" after an encounter with mike tyson that left him bloody. Real jobs don't get you bloody. What kind of "work" is that???

I think the Times is trying to make people sympathetic to the poor. Sob. Sob."Everyones trying to eat". You can eat without harrassing people. Why don't they open up their own legitimate business?

I can't stand paparazzi. They are warts on the a$$ of society. I love how they hound pregnant women or mothers with very young children... or the kids themselves (think MJs kids, who didn't do anything to deserve to be harassed except be born). They stick cameras in people's faces for a living and harass/follow people for the mighty dollar. They are like sick predators with no boundaries or ethics, do anything for a buck. But, they wouldn't be "needed" if people didn't feed the beast. So, IMO, no, I don't want another unnecessary body at LAX. Especially if all they are doing is taking photographs.

It would be funny to see one of those notoriously well-known paps get followed around every second by a dozen celebrities with cameras and camcorders. The celebrities basically acting like a gang of paps, constantly harassing, asking questions and taking pics. This would go on non-stop for a day or two without letting him have any privacy to eat, sleep or even take a dump. I was going to say "get laid" instead of "take a dump" but I didn't think they actually got any.

and I still say, it should not be illegal. I am not saying I like or approve of them. I think many are scum or at best way over the top and rude. The fact remains they are not breaking the law and the law should not be changed. We are losing too many of our freedoms now. However that is a different story. As for loitering, that is streching you imagination a little.

"Loitering" because they don't have a real job. Getting bloodied by mike tyson. That's not a real job. That's basically loitering around the airport, hanging around, not doing anything, then suddenly "creating" something to get your shot, or get the reaction you want.

Don't some malls have rules about teens congregating and loitering? Like you're not allowed to be in a group of 8 or 10 after school, or after 4 pm. The average teens behavior at a mall doesn't come close to a "pap" (or moron).
