I've been listening to literally 1000s of fireworks going off in the streets. Is the 'no fireworks" law the most ignored law in LA?

Its the same down here in OC. I don't know what the penalties are but I guess lots of people don't care if they get caught.

Tonight's 11pm news showed some poor saps getting caught in Pasadena (who sent out special fireworks units). Average folks with lots of fireworks got a ticket. People who looked scared in the face of "the law" and dropped the fireworks as cops approached got just a warning. Group of guys putting on a whole show in the middle of the street, maybe charged with a felony.

The latter is going on outside my building - An entire show was put on in with people sitting, watching and clapping. went on for HOURS! Scared the bejeezus out of my pet.

I feel for the pets. Go ahead and turn in people using illegal fireworks. They should know better.

Good grief, it is amazing to me that fireworks are made illegal. What a sad state of affairs when celebrating the freedom brought by cannons, muskets, bright lights and loud sounds by using innocent symbols of those things is prevented. And to call the police out when there are so many other things they could be doing is a waste of taxpayer money, in my opinion. So yes, narc on people celebrating freedom. You are using the same tactics as those who ratted out the patriots to the British. After all, the patriots were practicing civil disobedience, too.

Your poor pet!!! I feel for them too.

What general area are you in? I heard the regular show far off, but this year people actually behaved!! Just the regular show tonight and no days preceeding July 4th irregular booms or even any fireworks outside the normal westside show. All is quiet on the western front .

Hope your pet is doing better soon. Mine was pretty shaken up with just a few loud booms, so I feel for your furry (or furless) guy or gal.

Yes, let the citizens of the US enjoy themselves "ONE" night....not for weeks before and weeks after the 4th of July. That is the problem, the fireworks are abused like so many other things. A few rotten people ruin it for the rest. And as I stated...let our "citizens" enjoy our fourth!!! But it should only be done on the fourth of July!!!

I agree. Some folks in the L.A. area have been setting off illegal "M-80s" and "Cherry Bombs" since "Cinco de Mayo."
