got a question. i have a van that is registered in san bernadino county. i used to live in joshua tree, so i had it registered there. times are tight and my car insurance is a full 200 bucks cheaper if i keep it registered there. so that is what i am doing.

but i never received my vehicle registration notice, and i am still in close contact with my former roommate and he mails me all my stuff. nothing has came for my reg. and so i haven't been able to pay it online. i got it last year at that address, so i don't know what the issue is.

i was wondering if i could pay my registration at a DMV office in los angeles, or do i have to truck it to berdoo? i can do that if i have to but to save a drive i thought i would make sure i couldn't do it here. if anyone can help me on this i will name my firstborn after you. or at least a cat.

If you have a AAA card, I HIGHLY recommend you go there instead. This is something you can do at a AAA office. Regardless of which DMV branch you go too, the AAA waitline will be much shorter. If you are dead set with going to the DMV, I would still call AAA for advice. IMO, I doubt it would be an issue since its a California registration not a county registration. However, the DMV is the most inefficient government agency (well, maybe behind the FDA) so they may make up some BS to avoid the work.

You should understand that your insurance company might decide to invalidate your insurance if they discover that you have misrepresented where your vehicle is garaged. This means that if you have an at-fault traffic accident that your insurance company may decline to pay and that will leave you the same as if you had no insurance at all.

I agree. I recently registered a pick-up truck and camping trailer. I joined AAA specifically so I wouldn't have to face the government trolls at the DMV.
