I don't have a job but i have a AA degree in business, and want to move to LA to get a job in finance. I don't have a car, so can i take public transportation from El Segundo to Down Town LA daily? This will only be 20 minutes or so, right? Also, my budget is $750 per month, including utilities. I shouldn't have a problem getting a 5 bedroom house with that, right? By the way, where should I live? I want somewhere with A+ schools, no crime and of course close to transportation!!!

In reality, LA isn't that great of a place to live unless you've got the money to enjoy it. Breaking that news to people, regardless of the level of truth, will come of negative, no matter how nice you put it.
This is pretty much the straight up truth.

I used to want to be helpful but the people who insist on moving out here are quite stubborn and just know that they can beat the odds and live on the Westside with no problems and work a mediocre job with little savings, etc etc etc.

So sometimes the answers to such posts can be negative. So if anyone out there is reading this and thinking about moving to LA. NO you can't live next to the beach if you're savings is puny, you don't have a job and have no pedigree or high labor skills. Unless you like shelling out 400-500 bucks sharing a two bedroom with five other people, two of which will make you so nervous to room with you won't get a good nights sleep cus you'll be worried about their erratic behavior or skipping outta town and leaving you to pay more than you can afford, then by all means being your broke butt to LA.

You can't live a Santa Monica life on a Van Nuys budget.
