It was ok...I drove to Burbank at the time, 5 days a week. I would only have to drive to Mission Hills/Arleta/ or North Hollywood now, against traffic, 3-4 days a week max with my new career......so it works out a bit better.

I can tell you that crimes out there are proportional to that of the San Fernando Valley, although those crime stats are a bit harder to access. Palmdale also has a bit more part 1 crime (violent type to be exact)

Yes, anaverde is a ghost town in the middle of "nowhere." You are at least 2-3 miles from services such as groceries (even of the convenience store variety) or gas station. OTOH, you're "only" 2-3 miles from the freeway, near the south end of Palmdale, which is good for commuting to LA which many, many people in the area do.

It's a bigger issue if your kids are in school since the developer was supposed to build a school in the development and bailed on that, so the kids get bussed a relatively long distance for school. You're really just out away from it all, which is not something you expect out of tract housing. Being out away from it all can be good and bad. The bad part comes in getting emergency response, for instance.

You cannot compare Anaverde to the 93550 ZIP code. 93550 is central and east Palmdale. Crime there is far worse than in the 93551 ZIP code, which covers West Palmdale, I believe including Anaverde.

However, yes, Valencia/SCV is hands-down a much nicer area. Much more expensive, too.

There are drive by shootings all the time in downtown newhall, along with carjackings and people breaking into homes in the older parts of Valencia and Stevenson Ranch as well. Over this last summer 3 of my neighbors homes were broken into from people canvasing our neighborhood. So I know that what the map shows isnt true.
You are so wrong. First of all, the Sheriff who runs the Santa Clarita district also runs Palmdale/Lancaster area too, among many areas he is in charge of and could care less whether the city gets a little plaque showing it is the safest in the country. The crime stats are based off of reports of crimes and arrest reports.

Are you being serious? The city officials hide so much when it comes to the crime in Valencia. I read the LA times, Daily News, watch local news on a daily basis and read the signal as well and every news source BUT the signal reports the crime that really happens in this town. Valencia wasnt even in the top 25 safest cities this year compared to the past 5 years where it was. Crime rates have gone up so much in the past couple years. The sheriffs who just cover valencia versus Palmdale/Lancaster dont report it. For two reasons theyre lazy and they want to keep the image of the city and that came directly from the mouths of a few sheriffs I know.
