Does anyone know why all these low flying helicopters have been circling certain residential areas of Los Angeles? Ever since 4am there have been a large long military type and black helicopters and police helicopters for what is now going on 4 1/2 hours. Couldn't get any sleep. Headphones on, earplugs in and still the vibrations were coming thru the walls.

Even now as I type this still multiple types of helicopters are going around and around and around. Different colors and sizes. The noise levels are a shame. Anyone know what's all this about.

The area you live in would help, but my guess, judging by the time .....

law enforcement and news air operations supporting a fatal traffic collision on WB 10 freeway around 4:50 this morning.

This was a broad area maybe between Culver City and Downtown Los Angeles and beyond. It's just an opinion but military looking helicopter seem extreme for traffic collision problems. I'm not sure exactly the types they were but some of them were definitely not the kind that one would normally see overhead in Los Angeles. There were many helicopters many of which were not moving from their position for what seemed up to 30 minutes. Over areas of LA that had nothing to do with the 10 freeway. Including residential homes. This went on for hours.

How do you know they were military?

I don't. Which is why I said military "looking". I've only seen photos of them on the news, television, ect. Looked similar to something from television in let's say a military related film. Well I'm not an expert in air transportation or the like. It was just an observation. I was probably mistaken and it's was just an accident on the freeway being tended to by helpful individuals. They were probably just reporting on the freeway. Thanks.

Its my guess it was from the freeway accident. There are/were no TFR (temporary flight restrictions) in the area for this morning, meaning there was no large-scale air operation.

I'm not sure if LADP was involved with the 10 incident, but LAPD ASD flies out of downtown LA and CHP flies out of Fullerton Muni.
