Default Westchester area

Hey all, I just got a job around the LAX area, so with all the traffic in L.A. one wants to be close to their job. How is the Westchester area when it comes to affordability, safety, diversity, etc? I'd like to live in an area that is affordable, safe, diverse (im a minority), so any suggestions would be welcomed.. Thanks..

How does one define "minority" in Los Angeles? Non-Hispanic?

To me it is anyone that is non-white. I am South Asian so I was wondering how was the westchester area when it comes to diversity, since I am not looking to live anywhere where I am the only non-white

Westchester is ok, but it's a little boring IMHO. If you are young or young at heart consider getting a rental further north in West LA! I would say it's a bit more diverse that Westchester, and there are more walkable nabes. The commute from West LA to LAX is a snap. 30 minutes each way max if you know what you are doing.

You can check Playa del rey, westchester, and manhattan beach. Those would be close to LAX and are nice areas. There is a combination of apartments and houses.

I have a friend that lives off of sepulveda to the east/north of LAX in westchester, around 78th street. There is a nice little community there but no apartments.

He does, however, send his kids to private school because you do get some gang spill over into the community schools.

Hi James, no I love all people, its just that I don't want to be the only brown person surounded by only white people. I like a good mix which is why I am asking if the westchester area is minority friendly.Thats for the tip greggd, im not close to having kids yet so I don't have to worry aboout the school issue.

Westchester is mostly a sleepy, residential community. You might consider Marina Del Rey and Playa Vista which are just down the hill from Westchester. LA in general is very diverse, so you will definitely see people who look like you.

Do you think surrounding White people will attack you?

No I didn't say that.. I love everyone regardless of color, its that I would like to be surrounded by other people of color as well. From what I hear, the Westchester area is vast majority white with not much diversity. Is that true or not?
