Default Weekly Places To Live?

Someone gave me a straightforward answer on my first post here earlier so, now I have another question.

Are there any cheap, weekly, motel style rooms to rent that aren't dangerous where a woman (me) and her son could live safely? I don't even need a kitchen if it comes to that. I cook all my son's meals in the mic anyway.

I was looking at an roommate ad on craigslist and the guy said he has a 160.00 a week room in the East Village area of downtown Long Beach. Is this possible? And if so, is that a bad area and/or bad apt?

One last thing I didn't ask about in my other post. If anyone here knows the procedure for Section 8 housing and wouldn't mind answering some questions in a private message, I'd be ever so grateful. I've talked to the housing authority but I didn't really get to ask everything I wanted to know.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any and all advice.

Hi, my name is Amy my personal email is amyrasar@yahoo.com email me and I may be able to get you some leads. Theres a Motel on Artesia Blvd that has great weekly rates and they appear to be safe. In fact my boyfriend and I are thinking of moving in for a few weeks. I'm not sure of the cross streets off the top of my head but I'm going to go look at them today so if you email me I can get you the info. Section 8 in this area has a long waiting list. You would have better luck applying for it in another county such as San Bernardino County. the list is a lot shorter and the places to live are nicer. After a while you could transfer back if you wanted to. have you gone to the county building. They will help you with move in and deposit if you meet with the housing specialist. You can get studio apartments downtown for $500.00 a month sometimes have you looked into any of them? take care and good luck

It's hard for me to answer the "bad neighborhood" question without knowing what you're used to. I think the East Village is one of the biggest bargains in the whole L.A. area and a perfectly lovely place to live. Longtime LB residents are prejudiced against it but it's been gentrified a lot. It's also the gay area of LB.

Sorcerer68 is correct. The East Village is a good area to live in. You can walk to everything and the people are nice. Good luck.
