Can anyone recommend a route from San Diego to the Home Depot Center in Carson via train/bus?

I think your best bet would be to take the Pacific Surfliner from the San Diego Amtrak station to Union Station in Los Angeles. From their you could either take the subway and then a metro bus, or two metro buses. To look at routes and schedules for the best way for you to complete your trip once you get into Union Station just go to www.metro.net and using their trip planner on the homepage put in 800 N Alameda St as your starting point and 18400 S Avalon Blvd as your destinaton.

If you wanted to take Greyhound the nearest station in Los Angeles would be Compton. From their it would be a short cab ride or you could take two short bus rides. Hope this was of at least some help.

Yeah Amtrak to Union Station and then the silver line (freeway bus; requires extra $1) to the artesia transit center (not the same as artesia station on the blue line) and from there the 245 or 246 (whichever comes first) to the HDC.
