I don't find Burbank to be "cityfied" at all. It seems very suburban to me.
Yes, the inland empire is very far away but I know some people make that commute. I was just thinking about the traffic on the I-10, seems like it would be more timely to take the train vs. driving. I didn't really explore Burbank. I just saw the downtown area from the 134 freeway and it looked pretty cityfied to me. Same with Glendale. Santa Monica too. They seem like their own cities more than just suburbs.

Well, she mentioned she didn't want an hour commute.

There's a little "downtown" area of Burbank that's mostly filled with restaurants, little shops, IKEA, and a mall. But it's hardly HARDLY a city. There are some some streets that are more busy w/ shops & the like like any suburb.

In fact, I'm not sure how you could get more suburban than Burbank.

My dad lived in the Promenade apartments near the Burbank mall and LOVED living there. He walked everywhere--to restaurants, the mall, IKEA, the library, movie theaters, shops on San Fernando Rd... They sometimes have events going on where they block off a few blocks of San Fernando and lots of families go to those things.

There are single family homes just north of Glenoaks in that same area, still within walking distance to all the amenities of "downtown" Burbank.

Burbank is a city, hence it's name: The city of Burbank.

There is no "city" in the name of Burbank, even though it is not part of the city of Los Angeles.

We love living in our area of Glendale. It's about to be designated a historic district, but if you have the opportunity check out the Rossmoyne area.

Very good schools, parks, access to freeways, shopping, etc....

Proposed Rossmoyne Historic District

In Glendale, it's true that living "above Glenoaks" is the common phrase if you want the good schools. The thing is you get what you pay for. Houses there have lots character and charm.

To set the record straight, Burbank is it's own city. It has a dense downtown area, but if you live in West Burbank (west of the 5 Fwy) or far North East Burbank (into to them thar hills), it's quite suburban and less frantic.
