I complained that on Jan 3 (the first workday of the year) I started hearing more truck beeping in Pasadena. I just noticed that trash collection is being done by at least two companies, Athens and Southland Recycling. Do cities usually get more than one company to do their garbage collection?

Regarding the increased beeping, which is 7:30 AM to later on, I suppose someone contracted someone new which is why I only now hear the beeping.

Sometimes, yes.

While the city operates their own trash/recycle/green waste here at home, bulky item disposal is handled by other refuse haulers.
