Metrolink is great. I commuted from Anaheim to Burbank back in '94 and loved it. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it.

If you leave anytime before 630 am, probably including 630am, the drive should take you no more than 15-20 minutes. In the evening, most of the time leaving work by 330 will get you home in the same time frame, and even leaving by 430 won't be too bad...maybe 30 minutes.

I take a similar route home at 6:30pm and it doesn't take anywhere near an hour.

I take 110 to 5 North
Take Riverside Dr, the first exit off the 5.

There is hardly any traffic on that road and you can cruise 45 mph up to the LA Zoo.
