Hi everyone,

We are a family with a 3 yr old child moving to LA. I'll be working in Northridge, CA and am trying to find the best places to rent in the surrounding areas. I would not mind a commute if the place is right.

My primary concerns are
1. Safety
2. Quiet

I am looking for a 2 bd apartment and I could really use some advice on actual properties in the surrounding areas. I'm looking at Sherman Oaks, Encino, west hills, calabasas, agoura hills, porter ranch and granada hills.

If anyone can recommend a property that fits the above, it would really help us.

Thanks !

Granada Hills and Porter Ranch would be easier commutes - or anything along the 118 also including Simi Valley and Moorpark. The northern side of Northridge is nice and many parts of Chatsworth. Anything which will have you drive on the streets of the valley will be a hassle - places like Calabasas or Agoura Hills.

Thanks Charles, I appreciate your answer. Would you happen to know how Granada Hills and Porter Ranch fare in terms of safety and, for a lack of a better term, "peace-and-quiet-ness" as comparred to say Sherman Oaks or Woodland Hills?

If you happen to know someone living in those areas that would recommend something for us to check out, that will be great.

Thank you.

Not too different though WH and SO have bigger retail and commercial presences. GH and PR are pretty much suburban homes with some retail but not the big stuff like along Ventura Blvd or in Warner Center.

Both have very nice places but GH and PR would be a better drive because going north south through the valley is no fun, lots of intersections and traffic signals.

Also, in general, on the south side of the valley, SH & WH, the further south you are is typically the more desirable and on the north side, GH, PR, and especially Northridge, the further north you are is more desirable.

You could also expand your search to include Simi Valley.
