Hi there
it looks like we are finally making the move later this year from the UK, we orginally had planned to move to Ladera Ranch in Orange county .
But because of various work comittments it looks as though LA COUNTY might now be a consideration.
However not being too familiar with LA county at all!
I would appreciate some guidance, we plan on renting first, perhaps a 3 bed, townhome or something. As we have two children so would like an area that good for families with young children. We would like to send our children to public elementary school as we have heard private schooling is more expensive and we are trying to find somewhere to live near good public schools.
I think basically we are looking for a good community for families thats safe etc etc any body have any idea at all on where we can even start to look? thank you

If you need access to both LA and OC, Los Alamitos sits on the border and has plenty of newer townhomes. Cypress also has plenty of new and old townhomes. Both cities have excellent public schools and are good for families

How are you getting around the visa requirement if you are self employed?

Fair enough.

I'm in the Uk and just reearching similar things.

Two kids - 13 & 15 - coming from a grammar school environment. Looking for decent public schooling.

There is a good school review site here:

[GreatSchools - Public and Private School Ratings, Reviews and Parent Community

I'm Australian - so will try to get an E3 visa.

The e3 allows my wife & kids to work too which is better than the UK work visa for the us.
