Fairly new to Lakewood, CA and I am looking for a doctor for myself. Prefer female. Would love to have her near Lakewood or surrounding communities but we also frequent Seal Beach and the beach towns in OC. Would love to find someone on the crunchier side, if you know what I mean, but really just someone nice and caring with whom I can develop a relationship. If you have any dentist or pediatrician recommendations that would be great too! Thanks!

Try using these websites:

RateMDs.com --> focuses on just what you are looking for

Yelp --> always helpful

Smile A Few Female Dentists in Lakewood, CA [current as of 6/12/2013]

In the interest of full (or nearly full) disclosure, I'm obligated to mention that I work at one of the below offices. I'm hoping that the lack of links, mention of multiple female dentists and proper nature of the response fits the OP enough that this isn't seen as violating terms of service.

In the Lakewood Professional Building next to the Post Office near the Civic Center there are four female dentists:

All located at 5220 Clark Ave, Lakewood, CA 90712

Dr. Wendy Harris-Parker
Suite 200
(562) 920-7707

Dr. Marjorie Handshuh
Suite 425
(562) 925-1003

Dr. Nancy William
Suite 435
(562) 866-0406

Dr. Connie Harper
Suite 410
(562) 867-7727

I've personally met all of them and they all do quality dental work. I'd say the only differences between them are price, different materials and the atmosphere of each office. There aren't that many places where four dentists are within walking distance... well... five actually, but a male dentist wasn't requested... so if you have the time (especially before you're in pain! It's better to make decisions when your mouth isn't throbbing) stopping by and chatting with a couple dentist can always help in case a dental emergency comes up in the future.

Also, I might suggest using http://www.healthgrades.com/dentist/ instead of RateMDS or Yelp. Yelp doesn't (as far as I know) search by the dentist's sex, and RateMDs isn't the most organized. The latter does sort appropriately though.

I wish I could help out with pediatricians, but the only one I know of off the top of my head is in Hawaiian Gardens and male. There WAS a woman on Bloomfield in Cerritos near Lakewood, but I think she closed down a little while ago.

Hope this helps,
