I have some ideas/thoughts to think about before NFL football comes to town. I just viewed Straight Outta LA (on Raider football in LA) Please comment on anything that you think is important to consider. This post is not really for debating if football should come or where to have it but to give comments assuming that it does come(although that is unsure now.)

1- How do you avoid gangs/criminals ruining the tailgating experience (like what happened to the Raiders) and preventing people from coming to the stadium? Here are my ideas:

-Monitor with intense security…this might work...
-Make people pay more for a special tailgating area. This would help reduce problems but I don't think it's enough/ or fair…
-Make 1/2 the lot an "immediate entrance zone" (with enforcement). This would make many feel safe when parking--they could go straight in and avoid trouble…
-Make a special tailgating place for season ticket-holders or season tailgaters and revoke privileges if it gets out of hand…

2- How do you avoid gangs killing one another (and others) over the uniforms?

Propose litigation that would increase penalties(before the team arrives) for anyone who uses the jerseys as gang wear or as a target for violence...

3- How do you get people to come and fill the stadium?

Make it an all day event by having a park/ recreation area to spend time with family (outside) otherwise people may chose to hike or go to the beach over football...(a downtown location may provide day-long activities too)

Any thoughts? I hope LA has a team soon. Thank you.
PS. I hope we have a new team name. I vote for the team to be called the LA KINGS (like the hockey)

....or, build the stadium away from scum bag gang bangers.

As far as names:

If L.A. gets an NFL team, what should be its name?

The Gutter Goats
The Molesters
The Gridlocks (good play on the football term grid iron, and the traffic jam term)
The Devil Winds (English for Santana Winds)
The eTeam (if it is an expansion team, gives the team a modern theme)
The Southlanders
The Sea N Ski (if they could get away with it copyright from the sun tan lotion company)

Or how about the Los Angeles MILFs?

Or the Los Angeles Swingers?

The answer you seek is in this movie. They set up fully automated chain guns in the hallways to protect their perimeter. Those.

I thought I clicked on a thread about football, not gangs.....

1. The PROPOSED NFL Stadium by AEG is IN DOWNTOWN LA...next to Staples Center. The Raiders played at the LA Coliseum in closer proximity to gang infested hoods. Also, the LA Raiders were in town when the gang/crack epidemic was at its PEAK. This is a much safer city today.

2. Sports always attract a certain percentage of knuckleheads....Enland's soccer hooligans for example.

3. USC football sold out the Coliseum without incident for the last 10 years.

If you want to eliminate the meathead factor:

Require that:

1) Name and mascot must be totally devoid of testosterone: Examples would be the "Peeps" (naming rights to Just Born), "Gerbils," "Bunnies," "Pansies," "Minivans," etc.

2) Team colors must be pink plus one other pastel color.

Problem solved.

P.S. I'm serious. I'm more of a fan of mascots like the Banana Slugs and Anteaters than the trite fanged and taloned fare.

You'll start seeing gang bangers with tattoos of carnivorous bunnies carrying AK-47's and switch blades. Pink will be the new red or blue.
