Ok so will be searching for a nice spot to rent in about 6 months.

I am looking for a nice loft in either downtown LA, or maybe Hollywood.

I am 26, and i run professional track and field. I am single and so id like to enjoy a nice bachelor pad for a couple years in this wonderful city before i settle down.

I was recently in San Fran and my good friend is renting an apartment walking distance from the Giants stadium. he has a corner apt with a nice view, and thats more or less the look im going for.

But im looking for either a loft or a studio.

I am looking to live in a safe neighborhood (obviously) that is driving distance to many of LAs finer attractions.

I hear Santa Monica is a wonderful place to live, and Manhattan beach too, but i train in Pasadena, and i would not be able to handle a 2hrs sit in traffic every morning. So i must live somewhere closer.

please give me some opinions. thanks.

Im trying to keep rent to 2k or under. I feel thats reasonable for a loft/studio.

Thanks

haha guess i should have stated in the original post. I am currently living in Pasadena.

I like the area, but its more of a "family" town. There is of course Old Town, which is nice, but im looking for something closer to the "real" LA.

Something close to theaters, stadiums, nice restaurants and with a nice view..

If i cant find something i will stay in Pasadena because i do like the area, but id prefer another town.

You'll be fine with your budget, though depending on the area and how nice the place is, you may be getting close to 2k. I don't recommend Pasadena at all for your purposes.

You got the right idea with Hollywood and Downtown LA. I might lean more toward Hollywood because there is more going on and its safer (the nice part - closer to the western edge, or near Runyon). You may also want to consider Miracle Mile area. I have a "bachelor pad" in that general area and I can tell you it's a good place for us to live.

Depending upon the hours you train in Pasadena, I would suggest getting a loft in Venice. You can get from Pasadena to the west side in an amazingly short time if you time it right. Hollywood or Downtown....uggh! Get ye to the BEACH!

I begin training at 7am and am done by 1130am..

I wouldnt mind a 30-45min drive in the morning, but thats about all. Not sure what traffic is like around 6am. some teammates tell me its hit or miss. If they leave at 545am they are ok, if they leave at 6am its a completely diff story and they are stuck in traffic.
