Hey guys.

We will be visiting southern California in Feb/2012. We're looking for a nice hotel (not more than $200/nt) with walking distance to some nightlife and things to do in the Long Beach area, maybe Redondo/Hermosa/Santa Monica. Near the beach would be great.

Thanks for any suggestions, folks.

Since no one answered... I am only in Long Beach once a year or so but wanted to say the spicy catfish at the Pandanus Leaf at Atlantic & Anaheim St is just about the best thing I have ever ate.

I've never stayed at any of these places but the Travelodge, Best Western and Courtyard in downtown LB have great accessibility and are probably much better priced than the upscale options down there.

Nicest hotels are downtown. Things to do in Long Beach include:

Gondola ride through Naples
Aquarium
Japanese Gardens or a basketball game at Long Beach State
Museum of Latin American Art
Belmont Shore / 2nd Street
Tour the Los Cerritos Ranchos
Dinner at 555 East or L'Opera
See what/who is playing at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, Capenter Center, or Long Beach Playhouse

There is lots more but that should get you started.
