Anyone know how to get started doing this? I am conducting a serious inquiry for a friend. DM me if you have useful information.

usuallly you can just get started by word of mouth and placing posters around town. Also visit loval realtors and rental companies. I would suggest your frind become bonded and insured. Most people who hire house sitters want references and want to know the person is professional and not a fly by night.

Also - there is a need for pet/housesitters. People don't want to board their animals anymore.

Once you are credentialed (bonded and insured with excellent references - and allow the clients to get criminal background checks) - put your name in at vet clinics.

that is exactly how hubby got started. He talked to our vet and others, plus real estate offices and we belong to several groups in town, including a couple of clubs and church. He is now busy enough that we have to plan our vacations, short of long at least two or three months in advance most of the time.

I will add, if one is going to be a pet sitter as well as house sitter, they will have to honestly have a real love for animals. People can sense the minute they see you how well you will enjoy their pets, the pets sense this as well. Not everyone is cut out for this type of work. It might seem like an easy way to make a few bucks, it can be anything other than easy. What would you do with a sick or dieing vet? Hubby has dealt with this a few times, what about administering meds, making sure regardless of the weather you will get to those animals and what about the little doggy that doesn't want you in the house?
