Default best route from Pas-Weho?

Hello,

So I have been doing this commute for about 5 months now and I am interested in knowing if I am missing out on a better route.

I must be in West Hollywood by 9am and I am commuting from Pasadena.

In the morning I take 110 to 5N exit Los Feliz - Hollywood Blvd, Sunset, Santa Monica ending at La Cienega.

In the afternoon I take Santa Monica all the way to Sunset, where I take Glendale Blvd to where the 2 begins, then 134 to my Del Mar/California exit. I love the 2. Once I am on it it takes me 8-10 minutes to be at my front door. However, it takes 45 minutes to reach it.

What is the best? I am more experimental in the afternoon b/c I don't want to be late for work. I prefer moving rather than being in gridlock. I tried Laurel Canyon and couldn't stand how awful 101 is. Today, I may try Cahuenga to Burbank and catch the 134 from there. How is that in the morning?

Does anyone else take these routes?

I live right by the Metro, but it is such a tease because it does not go into the West LA area at all. ugh! If I can take a bike it would be different. But not during rush hour.

to get to Hollywood and Beverly Hills in rush hour I usually exit the 2 at Glendale Blvd north, go southwest on Silver Lake, which turns into Beverly Blvd. and take it to wherever I need to go.

I wouldn't recommend the 134 east in the afternoon/evening unless you can get in the carpool lane. But if you do want to try that route, take Cahuenga north, turn right on Barham, and right again on Forest Lawn until you get to the 134.

Instead of Barham & Forest Lawn, you can try Cahuenga all the way to the 134. There isn't a magic way to West Hollywood during the rush hour. All routes involve boulevards and the best you can do is the 2.

If Santa Monica becomes too congested, you can try driving through the smaller streets. Consult your Thomas Guide.

You might try going one street lower or one street higher than Santa Monica Blvd. (since the streets all basically checkerboard). You might find the lights timed better for the direction you are going.

Coming home -- how about La Cienega to 3rd or 6th street (or even Wilshire). 3rd, 6th or Wilshire to Alvarado, Alvarado to Glendale to the 2 freeway. ???

I used to find Wilshire really fast to travel on when it was "non-business" hours.

Arrow 2 to the back roads are key

So, I just moved to La Canada and work in Hollywood just west of La Brea.

This sounds convoluted, but it takes me about 30 minutes each way (I work from 10am-6pm).

2 South
Exit Fletcher (go SW)
Rt. on Glendale
veer slight right to stay on glendale
L on Hyperion
Rt on Griffth Park Blvd
L on St. George
R on Franklin
Take Franklin into Hollywood

The left and rights seem unnecessary, but they will help you avoid the traffic around Glendale High.

Good Luck!

hah, that's almost the same route I took to get to a show at the Avalon tonight. Instead of going up to Hyperion, I took Rowena to St. George.
