so true. I wish OP would come back today and give us a little better idea what she is really thinking, where she is going to school, etc. That way maybe more people will be able to direct her, but certainly public housing ins't the answer.

Hmmm are you going to FIDM? Anyway if you're looking for a place at 700 dollars a month you won't find that in Downtown which is quickly gentrifying and getting real expensive. Like many people here have said, try rooming with someone. That's really the only way you'll be able to afford a decent place for 700 dollars. If not, you can always try to move to South LA, which may have some cheap places but you'll either be dodging bullets or replacing your car.

You can look on Craigslist for a roommate or roommates.com.

I think other poster is either a fake or just twisted. Some of IT's post does not add up.

What part of Florida are you from? and why would you want to live in dt? That too close to south central for me!

I'm in Atwater Village with 2 roomates. I pay $525 to share a house with them, so it's definately do able. It's by no means a trendy or cool part of town.

$700 for a studio might be tough. I know 1bedrooms around me are going for $800 - $1000.

Yes, I am going to FIDM so that is why I am trying to be as close as I can to the school and plus I don't know the area. No, I am not fake. I am just busy with school and I appreciate all the advice. I have considered the idea of getting a rommate but how can I make sure the person is not insane??? I do not want to live in worry?

My nephew attended FIDM but he lived at home. Why don't you check with the school and see if they have any programs( I would imagine they would) that would connect other students looking for roommates.

Hummmmm, that is pretty tough to find for $700 range.

Your best bet is to try to rent a room in a nice home/location. Even really nice rooms today are more that $700 a mo.

Good luck, and just watch your back as you would living in any other city!
